According to district officials and preliminary data, Chicago Public Schools is continuing to see enrollment climb since it’s official count on the 20th day of school in September. CPS CEO Pedro Martinez estimated more than 5,700 newly arrived immigrant students have enrolled since the start of the 2023-24 school year. But some schools don’t have necessary bilingual staff.
